Erik (Slavik) and Rade had a long chat with Tiberian Sun fans in the TiberiumSun.com/RSN chatroom and many interesting questions were answered:

Xlarfnoz: Can the Devil's Tongue Flame Tank use the grinder things to chew up units?
Slavik: It can't grind up units, but it can nail infantry.

Nova: It was asked earlier if the Orca Transport is buildable in multiplayer.
Slavik: Not right now. Both sides have very potent troop transports, but we may change that at some point.

Drago: Erik do orcas avoid sam sites?
Slavik: Avoid them? No, otherwise they'd be useless. :)

Nova: Is there any update on the ETA of the new trailer?
Slavik: I haven't heard any news on it yet as everyone (but the TS and LOL teams) are on Christmas break.

ThrawnSW: Uh.. I was wondering if we'd be able to customize the sidebar.. Like be able to arrange where the units/buildings are on it..
Slavik: No, but we are always experimenting with stuff like that. We will see what makes sense.

OGY: Are the third perspective briefings still in Erik?
Slavik: Yeah, OGY. Your character is still on screen.

Quarantine: Will there be a trailer for Tiberium Twilight on the TS CD?
Slavik: We thought about it, but I don't think there will be a TT trailer on TS. TT will take awhile to build, so it's a bit early.

Weapons-Inc: Will units have a harder time with accuracy agianst units on hills
Slavik: No, we don't alter unit abilities based on terrain. Just light.

OGY: Can infantry go through the holes made by subterrainean tanks
Slavik: No, the holes close up behind them.

REwT: Slavik: I was wondering if TS will be open like TA is, where you can make your own units, ai, weapons, etc
Slavik: No, TS won't have any of that, but we do have map generators.

QamaQaze: How close does a unit have to be to a cloaked stealth tank to be able to detect it ? (cells)
Slavik: Depends on the unit. Infantry and towers must 1 cell away. THE DSA [Deployable Sensor Array] can be 15 cells away.

SpawnH: Will the Temple of Nod be Back, if so, in what form?
Slavik: Yes the Temple is back and in evil form. :) There are some other surprises too.

Xlarfnoz:Approximately how long will it take the Disruptor Tank to reload?
Slavik: Right now, the rate of fire is about 3 seconds.

ThrawnSW: Will a sub-tank be able to pop up, unload, and run right back down?
Slavik: Yes, but it takes awhile for it to pop up and unload.

Weapons-Inc: will infantry be able to walk in shallow water?
Slavik: No, but the APCs can both traverse water.

OGY:Are there units that you haven't told us anything about and if there are keep it that way, we need at least a little surprise
Slavik: Oh, there are plenty of surprises left. :)

fredbob3: If an aircraft gets shot down, will it just explode in the air or crash on the ground
Slavik: The crashing thing used to work, but not right now. We'll have to see what happened.

Nova-: Yeah, I remember V2's in RA shooting at infantry in your base and blowing up your buildings. Does the disruptor do things like that?
Slavik: It's own? No.

mD: What kind of things have you fixed or finished since the last time you stopped by this channel? (i think was almost a week ago)
Slavik: A week ago? That's a long list of things. Many movies are finished, map selection screen, lighting effects, etc...

Presto: Hey Erik, what "Special Features" will the philedelphia have if its still there?
Slavik: The Philly has drop pods and dropships.

REwT: Are there any plans for further games to employ third party units?
Slavik: Not right now. But maybe in the future.

Hypertank: Can the MRLS run over infantry?
Slavik: No, the MRLS can't right now.

winbeta[CC4Ever]: Erik will the install routine be Win95 standard or like the origional C&C install?
Slavik: The install is very cool. You'll like it. :)

Bill88: How close does a Unit/building have to be to a stealth generator to be cloaked and does it (stealth generator) take as much power as the FSD
Slavik: About 30x30 area. I think the FSD takes more power right now, but not a lot more.

Nova-: What's the diff between a drop pod and a dropship?
Slavik: Drop Pods are single infantry delivery units. The Dropship can drop off 5 units. You'll know them when you see them. :)

Presto: Do they look like the pods on Star Ship Troopers?
Slavik: Yeah kinda.
Slavik: Not the Dropships. The Dropships are HUGE. (One of the biggest voxels in the game.)

Weapons-Inc: I know this is kind of off subject but how is Commando coming?
Slavik: I haven't had time to see Commando for a while. I'm sure it's very cool.

SoulKrusher: SpawnH Sent me: does Nod have an Adv Power plant?
Slavik: Yes, Nod have an Adv Power Plant.

ThrawnSW: Will rockslides just be a debris effect, or could the player start one off to bury enemy troops?
Slavik: If enemy troops are hit by that debris type they are killed.

Hypertank: Are the Stealth Tank rockets explosive or armor piercing?
Slavik: AP.

Hypertank: Hmm I think I figured it out any unit who can squish doesn't need explosive damage when units like MRLS do need to splatter infantry =)
Slavik: Infantry are tougher this time. I think people will use them a lot more.

SoulKrusher: Heres another bug that might be in the harvester truces: load a harvester full of blue tiberium and blow it up in your enemie's base.
Slavik: You can't destroy harvesters in a truce. (Except by destroying a bridge or ice. No way around that that wouldn't introduce a TON of problems.)

Weapons-Inc: We all know what GDI has for infantry (so far) but what does NOD have?
Slavik: Light Infantry, Rocket Infantry, Cyborgs, Engineers.

ThrawnSW: If the player launches a tiberium missle at the enemies base, will it just spread tiberium or will it also damage the units/buildings around it?
Slavik: The missile does damage and releases poision gas.

Hypertank: Is infantry cheaper now? In Dune2k they were still weak but at least they were very inexpensive.
Slavik: No, the infantry are a little more expense because we pumped up their stats.

Presto: lets see here... in RA there was forbidden technology, in TS will it tell us why it isnt there in TS and C&C?
Slavik: No, but depending on how you play, you might see some of the effects of the forbidden tech.

Hypertank: You said Cyborgs are tank-like that means they can't be squished right?
Slavik: Right. No squishing Cyborgs.

Ramrac: omegacentrix Sent me: Are you looking at a 3D polygon engine for TT? Or another TS type engine?
Slavik: We are playing around with a couple new ideas. We have to examine where we think hardware will be in the future before deciding on technology.

Presto: can u tell us why kane hasnt aged?
Slavik: No, but you might be able to guess at the end of TS.

Bill88:How close does a Unit/building have to be to a stealth generator to be cloked and does it (stealth generator) take as much power as the FSD
Slavik: The units must be with in a 30x30 area and the FSD needs more power than the SG.

Hypertank: Is the rocket soldier still equipped with 2 types of rockets (AA and AG) like in RA or just 1 type like in C&C?
Slavik: One type that is both SAM and STG.

Weapons-Inc: Is TS goign to ahve a cinematic after every mission or just ones here and there? besides briefings.
Slavik: There are movies after each mission. Sometimes more than one.

Presto: Who gets the Mammoth Tank?
Slavik: Mammoth Mark II. GDI.

Hypertank: When a unit is cloaked are you able to see a blur or is it totally invisible?
Slavik: Stealth units are totally invisible, but not the Chameleon Spy. He blurs.

Drago: Erik can you exchange technology with allies?
Slavik: No, we always used to trade MCVs though.

ThrawnSW: Will the player still be able to force attack with ctrl?
Slavik: Yes, ctrl still works.

Hypertank: I remember the stealth tank cinematic after the ...uhh 9th NOD mission 2 rockets killed a whole base I hope we'll see something similar or better!
Nova-: I always wanted the units from the cinematics, those things were cool.
Slavik: In the cines? Yes, we have a whole new level of cool for the movies.

ThrawnSW: Will jump jet infantry be able to hover forever, or will they have to let and recharge their jet packs?
Slavik: They can hover for as long as it takes to get there or destroy ground units.

Ramrac: I have an AMD, how will TS run on it's weak floating point, and what are the system requirements for TS&AMD
Slavik: We wrote software FP calcs. It should be about the same reqs for both Intel and AMD chipsets.

REwT: Will there be an automatic internet-based update system, where on startup it will detect internet and check if theres a new patch, then ask you if you want to download it?
Slavik: Yeah, Westwood Online has a lot of cool new features like that.

Hypertank: Do you need any additional upgrades to get the Cyborgs or just plain barracks? They sound too ough to be "low tech"
Slavik: No, just the Hand of NOD right now. They are on a higher tech level though.

Presto: Erik: I recently noticed on westwood the dune2000 upgrade, is TS gonna be able to do that also?
Slavik: Yes, TS will have everything Dune2k does plus more.

Ramrac: Annihilator Sent me: Are there any pictures of "results" of the NOD Scavenger unit?
Slavik: No, the Scavenger didn't make it.

ThrawnSW: Like in SC and WCII, will the player be able to click on units many times and hear some funny responses?
Slavik: No, we added a ton of new voices, but they are context based not linear.

SoulKrusher: Annihilator is curious to know about the Mammoth Tank Mark 2's weapons
Slavik: Nope. MMIIs weapons compliment is a secret. :)

Xlarfnoz: Can you rig your buildings to automatically sell (for about $500) so that they'll auto-sell before they are captured?
Slavik: No. That would make engineers pointless. (Aside from bridge repairs.)

Nova-: Erik - have you tried Alpha Centauri at all? Any chance of anything like the Design Workshop making it into TT? I think it would be a great addition to the RTS genre.
Slavik: I have thought about quick easy ways to customize units. We'll see...

Ramrac: SpawnH Sent me: will the nod spy be gone after used, or go back to the base?
Slavik: Spys are one shot units.

Hypertank: Is there any conventional unit outranging the NOD artillery?
Slavik: Nope. The artillery is the big boy on the block.

Presto: Does it have to be deployed to fire?
Slavik: Yes.

CABAL: When units are trying to get to you from across water or a cliff, do they just wander back and forth like in C&C and RA?
Slavik: If they can't path to you they find a new target.

SoulKrusher: Erik: Rade said in a recent interview that the Mammoth Tank was still buildable. I'm confused.. I thought you said it wasn't?
Slavik: The MMII is not buildable.

Trag: Will TS be a Westwood Chat only game? Or will EA's involvment in Mpath get it on Mplayer?
Slavik: WOL [Westwood Online] only.

Nova-: Will you still see a lot of the MMII in the single player game or will it make only a cameo appearance?
Slavik: You'll see a bit of it solo and multi.

REwT: If the MMII isn't buildable, how will you use it?
Slavik: Not saying.

Alkaline: so finding it hiding in a nursery in some house isn't out of the question for the mammoth tank?
Slavik: You never know.

Nova-: Will you actually get to control the MMII or will you only be fighting against it, as nod?
Slavik: Only fight it, unless you get the Forgotten and STEAL it. :)

Alkaline: The forgotten aren't organized, right? just a *type* of people?
Slavik: The Forgotten are somewhat organized, but there are several groups.

Nova-: If you annoy the Forgotten early on in the game are they going to remember it and stay opposed to you for the rest of the game?
Slavik: Annoy them? Depends on the mission. You meet multiple groups of Forgotten.

Alkaline: Does the AI react like a human, and does it surrender ? -- VrEek
Slavik: The AI does some interesting things, but it doesn't always seem human. I have never seen it surrender.

Hypertank: Do they fight against eachother?
Slavik: AI does fight each other.

Presto: and will the AI use aircraft and (naval/hover) units this time?
Slavik: Yes, the AI knows about everything.

Alkaline: are those individual groups organized and have names?
Slavik: Some have names, others are just local groups.

Kassy-Sama: In Tiberian Dawn, Infantry only took damage from Tiberium if they actually moved over it. While they we're stationary... they took no damage. Has this been fixed?
Slavik: Yes, the longer you stay in Tiberium, the more damage you take. Moving or not.

ThrawnSW: Will we be able to have computer opponents in multiplayer games?
Slavik: Yes. you can fill the rest of the player roster with AIs.

EvilKaneevil: If a map runs out of Tiberium (as happened frequently in C&C multi), will meteor shower hit?
Slavik: If you have meteors on, yes.

Alkaline: Will there be unit queues, and rally points? -- Slavik-WSFollower
Slavik: Ok, let's see. There is unit queueing and waypoints. Rally points might make it.

Weapons-Inc: Is queueing made it in can u queue 2 differant types of units?
Slavik: Only one type of unit right now.

Hypertank: Can you play FreeForAll against the AI?.. I hate having 7 AI players teaming up against me =)
Slavik: The AI picks a most hated enemy. Might be you, might be another AI.

Alkaline: Will units "slip 'n slide" when passing across ice? -- Luke
Slavik: No, they have heavy traction.

Annihilator: Is an animation of a bridge being repaired visible?
Slavik: Not right now, but maybe in the polish phase we can do something cooler.

Alkaline: Will there be SFX for the crash of waterfalls and the crackle of forest fires -- Luke
Slavik: The waterfalls will make noise, but not the fires.

KaMPal: Are ion storms a permanent part of multiplay or a toggled option(like crates)
Slavik: Toggled.

YFJ: Will orca fighters be able to guard other units ie fly fighter cover for them?
Slavik: Not yet. I hope to be able to get that in though.

duketroop1: duketroop1 says, "Can you burn the ice with flamethrowers?"
Slavik: Yes, ice can be destroyed with fire weapons.

Nova-: Will you be able to 'spawn' network-only copies like you can with Starcraft so you can play multiplay with your friends?
Slavik: No, but there are multiple cds which kinda works too.

Alkaline: Which one of the following upgrades would enhance or speed up TSCC: Processor, Video Card, RAM, something else? -- Luke
Slavik: All of the above. :) However, TS likes RAM. Video and system RAM.

Alkaline: You've already mentioned a soldier killing a tank gives a lot of points, but does a soldier get even more points if he kills a tank that had a lot of points already? (a very experianced tank). -- Zed
Slavik: Yes, the points are based on a value that is based on a percent. The bigger the unit, the bigger the percent, the bigger the points.

omegacentrix: Whats the max resolution TS will support right now and what res do you like to play it at?
Slavik: 1024x768 and 800x600.

Alkaline: How can you tell how experienced a unit is? IE: number in bottom corner of unit or something? -- NODman
Slavik: A symbol in the bottom right corner.

Ramrac: Cyborg Sent me: Erik: in your opinion which side is better NOD vs GDI ?
Slavik: Better? Neither hopefully. I like GDI myself though...

SoulKrusher: What exactly is Chandra's role?
Slavik: Chandra is one of the Kodiak pilots and McNeils friend.

mD: Are all the AI scripts finished?
Slavik: No, I still have more to do. As I watch people play and abuse the system, I'm sure there will be more. :)

OGY: Does the disruptor beam have more special effects than the sonic tanks beam in dune2k
Slavik: Yes, the Disruptor has a very cool translucent wave effect.

Annihilator: Erik, If an aircraft is being destroyed, will it explode in the air or come crashing to the ground?
Slavik: Hopefully both, but right now it only explodes.

Paladin333: When a unit gains expirence will it change physically in any way, eg. change color, get bigger etc.
Slavik: No, not enough RAM for that, but yo get PIPs on it.

ThrawnSW: Will there be something built in to take a screen shot or will we need to use an outside program?
Slavik: We have something built in. Maybe we'll leave it. I'm not sure.

Alkaline: Will the Orca Transport be buildable in multiplayer like the Chinook in TD? -- Zagadka
Slavik: No, both sides have APCs that can cross water.

Alkaline: If you leave something in a tiberium field like a tank or something can it be taken over by tiberium or rust over time? -- Critecal-GG
Slavik: Vehicles aren't affected by Tiberium.

Alkaline: Can the jumpjet trooper be blown around by wind? Also can jets or planes? -- Critecal-GG
Slavik: No, no wind.

duketroop1: To Slavik: What do you do to balance the stealth generator? does GDI have a unit to counter it?
Slavik: The DSA [Deployable Sensor Array] and the heavy power reqs make the Stealth Generator more balanced.

Dean: What about the trailer?
Rade: Haven't been able to work on the trailer, sorry. I got wrapped up rewriting the manual.

Nimrod_: Here's a long shot: Do you guys have any ideas about the next title?
Slavik: Yes, there will be a next title.

dr_rat: Can u play the forgottens in multiplayer
Slavik: You can use the Forgotten, but not as a side.

Ramrac: *Spiffed* it was, do units of the same unit type make diffrent sounds when clicked on?
Slavik: No, but there are several voice types.

SoulKrusher: Can you use the forgotten's vehicle hijackers to steal their own mammoth tanks?
Slavik: The Forgotten don't have the Mammoth Tanks.

duketroop1: To Slavik: What kind of units will the forgotten have? will they have typical tanks/infantry/buildings?
Slavik: They only have infantry, but they can steal other units.

ThrawnSW: If NOD loses power, will all of it's defenses be useless? Or will there be things like flame turrets and pillboxes?
Slavik: No, only the high tech ones lose power.

trevor: do civilians drive away in there cars
Slavik: Sometimes they take off in cars.

Ryan-TSCC: Will units stand still when they don't have orders, or will they do stuff like pushups, etc.
Slavik: They meander a bit, they aren't still.

SpawnH: Does the banshee have to reload it's weapon?
Slavik: Yes, it does have to reload.

Dean: Do you have any idea when the official TS site will be updated?
Rade: It will probably be updated in a week or two.

adamv: In multiplayer games will the game turn from day to night and back every 20 minutes or so?
Slavik: We'll see. I haven't tried the day night thing in multiplay. Might be too big of a CPU hit.

TSDT: Do civilians still panic, or will they shoot, or what?
Slavik: Some panic, some shoot.

YFJ: will there be fat soilders in TS???
Slavik: No, no fat soldiers.
Rade: There's a fat civilian though.

Nimrod_: Do NOD infantry look different than GDI infantry?
Slavik: They look different

Vegeta: How much power will the stealth genarators take? Like roughly 1 power plant per stealth genarator?
Slavik: Over 2 powerplants.

Nimrod_: Will I ever make a post on the RSN news? ;)
Rade: Someone just asked a good question and I thought I'd answer it in the open. New screen shots will be coming soon, possibly some music clips as well.
