Release Date: Summer 99 Developeer: Cavedog Publisher: GT
After the success of the revolutionary Total Annihilation, it looks as though TA2: Kingdoms will be serious opposition to C&C2. This will be Cavedog's second 3D strategy game and after their experience of creating TA, they will be able to create a very graphically pleasing and awe-inspiring game.
This game is set in medieval times and will include four different sides, each with their own unique playing style. They are based on the four ancient Earth Elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Aramon (Earth), use knights, swordsmen, archers and catapults and have good technology but don't use magic. Veruna rule the oceans and utilize powerful armadas or ships and train dangerous sea monsters. The Zhon control the skies and have magical abilities to duplicate themselves. Taros are a race of powerful and evil magicians who harness the power of fire.
There will be about 160 units in the game, and more available to download after it's release. It will use 16 bit colour, extremely detailed 3D terrain, and improved AI. The emphasis will be even more strongly on the storyline and plenty of cinematics should keep you happy. There are 47 missions and you take turns controlling each race, rather than choosing one to stick with throughout the whole game.
Now, this'll suprise you: TA: Kingdoms will not have resources! Instead, Mana is used. You spend it on spells and building units and structures and you receive it by absorbing it and taking control of sacred sites. To help your army, you can construct a temple to your civilization's god. The god will then help you out occasionally by attacking the enemy.
Kingdoms will use an advanced veteren units system, which allows units to gradually become faster, stronger and more intelligent with experience.
