The STORY
Command and Conquer: Red Alert
The story begins in the early 20th century. Albert Einstein invented a time machine and uses this to stop Hitler from conquering Europe. Once Hitler was gone, however, the Soviet forces, commanded by Joseph Stalin, took over control.
The Allied and Soviet forces battled each other over the next few years, with the Soviets eventually winning.
But Kane did like the Soviet Union, so he murdered Stalin and began the Brotherhood of Nod.

Command and Conquer (I): Tiberian Dawn
50 years after Red Alert, now into the start of the 21st century, a meteorite crashed down on to the earth. An valuable alien plant, under the name of Tiberium, began to spread all over the globe, possible an attempt by aliens to destroy mankind.
The Brotherhood of Nod now had powerful military forces and began to conquer the world. Due to this threat, the other countries of the world created a force to stop Kane. The Global Defence Initiative (GDI) was born.
A fierce battle now ensued, taking place mainly in Europe and Africa. The GDI forces eventually triumph, and allegedly kill Kane. The rest of the Brotherhood split up and the world is again free. But there is still the threat of the growing Tiberium.

Command and Conquer (II): Tiberian Sun
It is now 20 years later, well into the mid 21st century, and the Tiberium has overwhelmed most of the earth. A new isotope has emerged, even more deadly and harder to harvest, but much more valuable. This toxic chemical has claimed most of the earth's land masses, killing or mutating most of the population. The survivors have relocated in the Polar regions, where Tiberium cannot grow. The GDI are now trying to move people into space.
There are rumours that the Brotherhood is again together, lead by their new leader, Hassan. They are in hiding, producing advanced weaponry and exploiting the toxic Tiberium. They are trying to produce a genetic super-being which will end the war for good. It is possible that Kane had actually been resurrected, and mutated due to Tiberium, and he is now half-human, half-cyborg.
Another race has now emerged, the Forgotten, who are mutated humans, created by the Nod, and grouped together in small factions, with some in support of GDI, some in favor of Nod.
The GDI must now battle against both the Tiberium and the Brotherhood of Nod, and this time the war's on a global scale. Only one of these forces will be victorious!

Command and Conquer (III): Tiberian Twilight
It turns out that the Tiberium was sent to the earth by aliens, not only to wipe out mankind, but also to render the planet a more suitable environment for the extra-terrestrials.
This time there will probably be an extra alien race involved in the GDI v Nod conflict, but I'm not sure of any more of the story.

And the rest...
Westwood say that there will be three more Command and Conquer games, what could the story be for those?
Well, C&C: Renegade, formerly known as C&C: Commandos, a third-person action/strategy game featuring Tanya, goes along with the story of Red Alert, but I don't know about the other two.
