TS Advert?
Tiberian Sun Commercial? - Daniel
Westwood Studios did say they were going to release Tiberian Sun commercials on TV, and this may be the first one. Dawg007 from TiberianSunCenter.com saw the advert on the Sci-fi channel:
"Well, I'm new here at TiberianSunCenter.com and I'm proud to be here. I'm not gonna blabber. So on to the subject of this update. Late at night about two days ago, I saw something I never thought I would. A commercial that seemed to be for Westwood Studios. It had Hell March blasting in the background and it also had flashes of different Westwood games such as Red Alert, Lands of Lore III and Command and Conquer. After it did this for about 30 seconds, in big bold bright green letters it said, "Prepare For The Best." Then it faded out and went to the other commercials. I know it's wierd but I swore it was for Westwood. It never said Westwood in the commercial but it had to be for them. It was on the Sci-Fi Channel. NO! I don't watch that channel, I was just surfing the channels and I saw it. Wierd, huh? I would like to see what VT or Rade had to say about this. If you have comments, email me!"
Sci-fi channel, late night, watch it. If you see any more Westwood adverts please email me.

Download Screenshots - Daniel
I've put all of my TS screenshots into three .zip files so that you can download them quickly and easily. There are 48 images altogether, at a size of just over 2Mb. Go to my Files>Images page to get the files.
Note: Webmasters, please ask me before using these images on your site.
XF-Mulder Partly True! - Daniel
Well, it turns out this guy does actually work at EA, but the info was still false, here is Rade's statement:
I never said that he didn't exist, simply that he has no business commenting about Tiberian Sun since he isn't on the development team and is not authorized to release information. Furthermore, while I don't doubt that he was only trying to help ease the concerns of the TS fans, doing so by giving out incorrect information is bad for everyone. The recent comments about being able to rotate the map are false and I don't want anyone getting upset when they realize that you cannot do that in the final product. The problem is that most of the fan sites treat what he is saying as factual since works at EA.
Erik Yeo Interview - Daniel
RSN recently asked Erik a couple of questions. These are part of 'Erik Week' at RSN and there will be a new question each day:
Bounty: In multiplayer mode, will the dynamic lighting be 'toned down' or brought to a lower resolution to improve multiplay speed?
Erik: There's a 'Visual Detail' slider that you can set in the options that will improve your game performance and therefore it will help the overall multiplay speed.

Bounty: No doubt you've been asked this already but this just isn't going away in the community. The '4 Legged Unit' that has been rumored to be the Mammoth Mark II and even listed as it under many sites' units page, is this all a cover up trying to hide the MM2 or is it just a voxel test, as said before?
Erik: I don't know what you're talking about. I've said too much already. These aren't the driods you're looking for.

Pre order Tiberian Sun - Daniel
You can now pre order Tiberian Sun from Chips & Bits. This means you will get it delivered to your door as soon as it's released. (It also saves you having to drag yourself out to the shops!) You can also buy an Hint Book and an Unofficial Guide Book.
XF Mulder is a fake! - Daniel
Rade said the following about XF Mulder:
"I just read some TS info from this guy who claims to work at EA, XF-Mulder I believe. If you get any info from this guy it is probably wrong. The only people who really know what is going on with the game are working on the development team."
So, he made everything up. You can ignore everything he said because it's all wrong! It's a shame really, that means the rotatable viewpoint probably doesn't exist, and that sounded soooo cool! :(
CGO Article - Daniel
CGO have written an interesting article about strategy and tactics in RTS games. Here's a short preview:
As the so-called real-time strategy games have grown in popularity, so to have grown the complaints from strategy fans of old, particularly those who prefer turn-based games. Complaints of "they're just click fests!" are often combined with "they have no strategy!" Many times, indeed, these are used interchangeably, such that "click fest" equals "no strategy." I, however, want to present the possibility that such statements are wrong... or at least inaccurate. Instead, many of these games do have strategy elements, or require/allow you to implement "a strategy." Where they fall down, however, is in the implementation of tactics.
Check out the rest here. Thanks to TS Den for this news.

XFMulder Chat - Daniel
TS Center and TS Communications Center had a quick chat with XFMulder from EA:
XFMULDER-XF: If TS has not gone gold within the next ten weeks, I doubt will see it in June.
Gladiator: but what exactly does gold mean?
XFMULDER-XF: The product has completed its test stages and passed them.
XFMULDER-XF: The product meets the standards of what the designers wish.
XFMULDER-XF: you can change the angle from which you view what is going on.
XFMULDER-XF: like in Sim City.
CaptZero[CotS]: 90 degree increments?
XFMULDER-XF: I think so.
Final Awards - Daniel
Well, the final two sites to be advertised in the game have been chosen by Westwood, and they are, picked randomly, TS4Ever and TiberianSun.de.
Mystery Units - Daniel
Somebody sent these two images to BG:TS. They are from the sidebar in a screenshot of Tiberian Sun:
I think the first one (on the left) is a NOD Stealth Tank or some kind of buggy. The second one may be the Temple of NOD, but I'm not sure. Please email me if you have any suggestions.

TS Preview - Alex
TS Center have written another good preview of TS. Go to their site to check it out!
Lagging Possible - Alex
Absolute Tiberian Sun had a question answered by Virtual Ted regarding lagings in TS online games:
Goldfish: Many games I've played over the Internet lag a lot. Do you think that Tiberian Sun over Westwood Chat will have a lot of lag? Will it be as fast and clean gaming as over LAN?
VT: It sounds like you should get a better internet provider. Tiberian Sun is like most other games.

April Fools Joke - Daniel
TiberiumSun.com has posted a pretty funny April Fools Joke about Microsoft's involvement in Tiberian Sun (at least I think it's an April fools joke!). Check it out here
Desert Missions - Daniel
Cyclone from TSD managed to ask Rade the following question:
Cyclone: Will there be any missions played in a sandy deserts without any sign of vegetation? Rade: Yes, there will be a few.
TiberianSun.com updated - Daniel
The official web site of Tiberian Sun has been updated with this news story:
Thousands of innocent civilians were forced to flee their homes today as Nod forces launched a new savage military offensive.

The Nod forces unleashed assaults on several civilian settlements thought to be harboring key Forgotten leaders driving the entire civilian population deep into heavily infested Tiberium zones.

GDI sources near Belgrade issued reports of highly armed Nod troops masked in red and black, brutally ejecting civilians from their homes in their search for the rebels. Many areas were left deserted and in flames as a result of the raids.

Virtual Ted Question - Daniel
GdiGuy from TiberianSunCenter.com asked Virtual Ted about the cutscenes in Tiberian Sun:
Gdiguy: Actually, could I ask you something? In your opinion, how are the cutscenes in TS, as compared to C&C and RA?
VTed: The cutscenes out of TS look like they're out of a movie. Very cool.
Two more winners... - Daniel
The next two awards have been given out by Westwood. Both these sites will receive a mention in the Tiberian Sun game. Rising Sun Network won the award for best graphics and Westwood Surf was commended for technical achievement. Today, two more sites will be randomly chosen for the final awards.
