Tiberian Sun to lead into Dune 2000? - Daniel
Well, that's what dreddnott thinks. He posted this article on TiberiumSun.com's message board:
A LOT of TS is VERY similar to D2K, including the Carryall (Carryall), Disruptor Tank (Sonic Tank), Devastator (Mammoth Tank Mk. II), three sides (Forgotten), earth turning into a desert wasteland, (Arruckus or whatever the heck it is), and I bet the Tiberium mutates into the docile spice. Arruckus could just be earth devastated by Tiberium!
By the way, it's 'Arrakis'
Kane Theory - Daniel
I've found an interesting theory about Kane on TiberiumSun.com's message board. It's by Y2KBOMB:
I think that KANE was abducted by Aliens. They reprogrammed his mind so he would continue to do the biddings of the Aliens. The Aliens secretly are trying to terra-form the Earth so they can eventually inhabit it. Kane is their "pawn" in this quest and will eventually be eliminated with the rest of mankind.
The plot is sort of the same as in Dune2000. Let the various houses kill each other off and then take over. The Aliens are letting GDI and NOD kill each other and when their numbers are greatly reduced, will kill the survivors and then inhabit the Earth.
The thing that is still puzzling, is that if the Aliens have such advanced intelligence and technology, why don't they just attack? Something else needs to be explained to support this theory. Any ideas?
TS Preview - Daniel
Part Two of soso's Tiberian Sun preview is now up at Thresh's Firing Squad. His a small sample of it:
As rumor would have it, I heard that Westwood Studios was done with Command and Conquer 2: Tiberian Sun a good while ago, but the release was delayed since it bore an all too uncanny resemblance to Blizzard Entertainment's Starcraft. After a lot more work and an introduction of some new game mechanics, the game should be ready to ship soon after its late June prerelease at Club I. First off from my visit to the Game Developers Convention (GDC), I learned about some of the work that Westwood put into C&C 2. Westwood intends to have 6,000 to 10,000 hours of Beta testing will go into the game before it goes gold.
Tiberian Explosion Winamp Skin - Daniel
I've made a really cool Tiberian Explosion Winamp Skin (well, I think it's cool!). It looks brilliant and is really easy to use. Download it here [119Kb]

Tiberian Dawn Theory - Alex
The German TS site Tiberiansun.de has come up with another theory about the extro of the GDI campaign in Tiberian Dawn. Here is what they think:
The beam you see in this picture cannot be an Ion Cannon.
  • A normal ion-cannon takes about 1-2 seconds to fire. In the extro it takes 8 seconds.
  • Normally the ion cannon fires on a specific area. In this video the ion beam moves around.
  • A normal Ion discharge makes a rather "compact" sound, whereas the pitch of it in the extro is "vibrating". If you have ever watched an episode of Star Trek you might notice that the thing in the extro sounds a bit like beaming.
  • Why does Kane raise his arms when he sees that the Ion Beam is coming towards him? Every normal human would show at least marginal signs of fear. Either Kane is a really cool guy or he is just awaiting being beamed out of the burning temple.
  • Well, judge yourself if these two satellites are the same. The first one is the normal GDI-satellite, the second one is from the extro. But maybe someone else just tried to imitate and copy the satellite? Just think about it.
  • Who would have an advantage if Kane is not dead? Maybe the aliens, which cooperate with NOD in Tiberian Sun (where do you think the Banshee comes from?)? What if the aliens wanted to rescue him? Or show him new weapon systems which he can use to rule the world? Or maybe Kane is an alien himself and they beamed him back to plan the next attack?

VT responds a lot! - Alex
VT answered a hell of a lot today. Insted of posting each question, I decided to summarize what he said:
  • They are working for a lot of stuff on E3.
  • The story about a commercial on the SciFi-Channel wasn't true.
  • There will be "a little" blood in TS, though he is not sure until the latest version (Why not more? 8)
  • He doesn't know when the game is going gold, he said if he knew, he would be running that place.
Another Cool Feature - Alex
WW Underground unearthed info on another feature in TS. Here is what they say:
"Well Guys here I am to give you a little bit of what I think is new info (Yeah new) of TS. Westwood has added a feature which is a Unit Loading Dock. Now basically what this is at the beginning of each mission that you are to build a base it comes into play. If you remember back in Red Alert it would randomly assign you the units you were to start with, Well in TS instead of that you are allowed to pick the units you get to start the mission out with, These are then sent down to the planet via the GDI space station."
EB World's Release Date? - Alex
EB World now updated their availability date for TS. They previously had it on June 16th, and now say June 26th. It is unknown whether the new date is just another estimation or given to them from an official source.
TS Inserts in SC3K - Alex
The pic we posted before was indeed from an insert in SimCity 3000. Hamma.com have scanned the other insert:

VT Responds to Official Site Updates - Alex
TS Center asked Virtual Ted the following question about the recent updates on the official site:
Cliff: Some people have noticed that the update on the official site at the moment is similar to the events happening in Kosovo, just like the previous update about taking out the air defences was similar to the USA/UK planes taking out Iraqs Air Defences when all that was g oing on. Is this just a coinsidence or are they really related to these events?
VT: Hmm. I'll let you be the judge of that.
I think it is obvious that they used the air strikes going on and am not sure if it's right. Those things are not funny and shouldn't be used for a game site. Oppinions?Email me!
Erik Week - Alex
RSN concluded its "Erik Week" with the following 2 questions:
Bounty: As of yet, do you know any of the buildings in TS that the sites will be named after? If so, which?
Erik: Not yet, I'm awaiting VTs list and then we'll figure it out.

Bounty: Will the TS multiplay client be more easily accessible than the current Westwood Chat (Entering and Exiting the red alert rooms looking for a cooperative play game) or will it be the same layout as previously mentioned?
Erik: It's a lot more accessible and everything is handled through one executable. Also, the game types, people in them, etc are labled better so you will have an easy time finding a game type you want.
