Interview on Units - Daniel |
Battleground: TS had a chat with Erik Yeo concerning the units in TS. Check it out here. |
Official Word on the Release Date - Daniel |
This is, of course, bad news (as anything with the words 'release date' in it usually is!). Rade himself said, "it is extremely unlikely that TS will be in stores March 31st." Expect a release date of May. |
Virtual Ted Chat - Daniel |
Warmaker from TiberiumSun.com recently had a chat with Virtual Ted. Here are the key points they discussed:

Release Date - Daniel |
There is a rumour that Tiberian Sun won't be released for another 4 months! That puts it back into June. I have heard this from several US and UK sources but there has been no official word on this yet. I wish Westwood would get on and release it! |

N64 Version of C&C - Daniel |
It says in Issue 13 of the Australian magazine N64 Gamer that Westwood is planning on releasing C&C for the Nintendo 64. They will release a version very similar to C&C Gold but of course with some features such as Multiplayer taken out (I assume). However, the graphics may be improved. Watch this space for the latest news on C&C N64. |

CGO Preview - Daniel |
Computer Games Online will have a new preview next week and they've had a chance to see the game. Here is a quote from the editor:Well, as our updated preview next week will show, build queues and waypoints WILL be in C&C2. The build we saw today had them working really well. As to how the game will be, who knows for sure? The 3D terrain is very nice, and the different elevation levels really plays a part in the game. Lots of the terrain is "deformable," i.e., you can blow it up. Some very nifty units too. Of course, at its heart, it's still a standard RTS--but with really good FMV cutscenes! |
Links and Downloads Updated - Daniel |
I've updated my downloads section with a few new items so check out my files. Also, I've fixed all my links. |

Gamespot Preview |
There is an 8-page preview on Tiberian Sun at Gamespot UK. It is extremely concise and contains lots of information, including the fact that the GDI Mech are now called "Powered Assault Armour Walkers". Read it all here. Thanks to Nicola for this info. |
More.......delays |
Not again! Westwood now say that the likely release date for TS is early April. Here is an sample from the Gamespot preview where I heard this:"Originally scheduled for release before Christmas it has now slipped, one last time allegedly, to the beginning of April. In the meantime, Westwood Studios, Command & Conquer's Las Vegas-based creator, has been snapped up from Virgin Interactive by Electronic Arts as part of a $200 million deal which has certainly had some bearing on the timing of the launch. We recently spoke to Westwood co-founder and vice-president, Louis Castle, who maintains that the move to Electronic Arts has allowed more time to refine the product. 'With Virgin we could have found ourselves under pressure to release products like Lands Of Lore III and Tiberian Sun earlier, but Electronic Arts is giving us the extra time we need to release the products as we want them to be'." Thanks to Nicola for this info. |
3D Images |
There are three cool 3D images at Westwood Surf. They have two images of the GDI Orca units and one of some Orca pads:![]() |
New Sceenshot |
Dustin sent me this screenshot which I ashamedly didn't have. If you have an image or file related to TS (but not C&C or RA), which I don't have on this site, please contact me, either with the image embedded or informing me of the URL. This one's an image of some defense pulse cannons taken from the preview video.![]() |

CGT Questions |
With, guess who? Erik Yeo! Anyway, here are the questions:SoulKrusher: Is there a way to turn off tiberium creatures (viceroids) in multiplayer? If you can, can you set them on low, medium or high? (like sandworms on Dune 2000).Check out Colourless Green Thoughts, it's a really cool site. |
Cool new Game |
Did you download the cool screensaver on January 27th? If you didn't, do it now (in my News Archives section). The people who made it, (at Strategy Central), have now created a freeware product called 'TS Desktop Toy'. You race around your desktop controlling an MRL, Scrin fighter or if you want a mech or infantry unit. You can fire weapons and destroy your desktop, while creating beautiful explosions. Anyway, have a go of it. You can download it from Tiberian Zone. Strategy Central are currently working on a multiplayer game called The Tiberian Sun Dome. There will be two rifle infantry units running around an abandoned GDI or NOD base looking for units like banshees, MRLSs, and tanks with which to kill each other. Sounds like fun, eh? |

Another Preview |
If you do actually collect TS previews, then here's another for you. PcParadox have a pretty good preview mentioning gameplay, graphics and lots about units and structures. Worth reading if your new to TS. However, the CGO preview below is a better read if you want all the details. |
Here we are again... |
For those of you who are interested in downloading huge but poor quality videos about the history of Westwood, click here for the latest chapter, 1989, from Westwood Studios Austria. |
Computer Games Online Preview |
There is a massive and very detailed preview or Tiberian Sun at Computer Games Online. It is extremely concise and I recommend you read it, even if you're not new to the game. Click here to read the whole thing. Here's a small sample:Caught in the middle of the struggle are the last remnants of the free people of Earth. Mutated and still inhabiting the infected regions of the planet are a faction of people called the Forgotten. Hunted by Nod to supply bodies for Kane's hideous experiments and all but ignored by the overworked forces of GDI, the Forgotten are the neglected untouchables of the modern world. They know what dark fate awaits them, as Tiberium continues to carry them further and further down the path of mutation and into insanity, but they haven't lost their pride or their will to live. How the player reacts to the Forgotten, as either Nod or GDI, will have some effect on how the story unfolds. |

PC Player Preview |
TiberiumSun.com have some information on a TS Preview in the German Mag, PC Player. It says that the game will be released first in Germany, then in the USA (to avoid illegal imports from the USA into Germany). It also says that the planned release date in Early April. Oh no! Yet another delay from Westwood. They say that they are performing extensive testing to make sure no updates or patches will be needed after the game is out. However, there is some better news about the dynamic game model. Apparently, it will take into account the weight of units and the weather as well as much more! If you want to know more, buy the mag (or visit their site) |
World Record for Westwood |
In the 1999 Guiness Book of Records, Command and Conquer is listed as bieng the most successful strategy wargame game ever! |
Westwood Online / RA Patch |
Good news: Westwood Online, like Red Alert is shortly to be, will be fully integrated into Tiberian Sun. You won't have to keep swapping between two applications to play on the net using WOL. Also, you will be able to play 4-player internet games and rankings and chats will all be displayed in-game. The new patch will also include many other features such as IP tracking and disconnect statistics. It should be released within the next week. |
Erik Yeo Interview |
The guys at Tiberian Hell have the second part of there interview with the lead game designer (Erik Yeo). Here it is:Hypertank: Is the formation feature coming back? How is the speed moderated? |
