WW-Underground Info Fake? - Daniel
Sociopath from TS Nation asked Rade this question:
Sociopath: Cyberman from ww-underground stated that Westwood handed him the complete unit/structures guide... you know anything bout it?
Rade: I wrote it, but I don't believe Aaron would give that out.

Sociopath: I didn't think he would...
Rade: We never give stuff like that out.

Flame Tank Question - Daniel
Gamma from TiberiumSun.com had an interview with Chris Rubyor, WW PR Coordinator:
Gamma: We've been hearing a lot about the flame tank not being able to drop it's fuel. But we all remember Aaron I th ink it was saying that it could at veterancy level. Which is true?
Chris: Sorry, the Devils Tongue will not be able to drop it's fuel tank.
I also asked him about the interview with Pacman01 regarding the legitimacy of it and I got this response:
Chris: As for the August 27th date. It would be much better to say the last week of August, since software retailers all vary..
Platinum Edition - Daniel
EB World say that the Platinum Edition contains the following:
  • Soundtrack
  • Making of the Game
  • Autographed Instruction Booklet
  • Special Silver and White Box
  • No figurine
  • And Another... - Daniel
I can't be bothered writing anything about it...
TakeaSeat: Will it be possible for aerial units to fly under bridges?
    Aaron: No.

TakeaSeat: How would one go about making a Flame Tank dump and ignite it's fuel? Do you get a deploy cursor or...? Also, is veterancy a factor when trying to perform this procedure?
Aaron: What? Flame tanks don't dump fuel.

    Another Aaron Interview - Daniel
TS-Underground have interviewed him this time. Here are two of the Qs:
Judge: How many missions are there in Tiberian Sun for both GDI and Nod?
Aaron: 25 a side max. It depends on the route you take to get to the end.

Judge: In Tiberian Dawn, the Temple of Nod could launch nukes. What can it do in Tiberian Sun?
Aaron: Multi-missile, allows you to build the toxic waste facility, allows you to build the cyborg commando and the vehicle thief.

Wow! It does a lot, kind of like a Tech Center from Red Alert.
New Interview, Set Release Date! - Daniel
PacMan01 sent this interview to Gamma from TiberiumSun.com. It is with Chris Rubyor of Westwood:
Pacman01: I heard somewhere quite a while back that Westwood Studios never releases anything on Wednesdays. Is this true?
Chris: It's bad luck to release on Wednesdays. :)

Pacman01: Can you release any info on C&C: Renegade (formerly known as Commando)?
Chris: Not at this time, but very very soon.

Pacman01: In a percentage, how much of TS is done?
Chris: 98% just weeding out a few more bugs.

Pacman01: Is August or "summer" still the best release date?
Chris: August 27 to be exact.

Pacman01: Whats the range for the Disruptor Tank and the Mammoth Mark II?
Chris: The disruptor fires about three to four cells away. the MK II is still a secret.

Pacman01: Last one...will there be flame thrower infantry?
    Chris: Not this time around.

August 25th - the release date for Tiberian Sun (we hope!)
    Article on Violence - Daniel
RSN have written a long article on violence in computer games, arguing why it should not be banned. I agree with everything they say, but go to their web site to check it out yourself.
    Alien Crash - Daniel
Kidjacked sent this e-mail to Gamma of TiberiumSun.com:
Regarding your Aliens section. Take a look at that new TS video. The german one. I lost the video. Its German dubbed. And it has www.gamestar.de at the end and beginning of the video. Well to my point. A little past the halfway point of the video, there is some ingame action going on. Gdi is fighting Nod around and under a bridge. A little south of the bridge is some big structure. When the screen scrolls down a bit, you see more of the structure. The big structure looks a lot like a crash landed alien ship. If you know what video take a look at it, and I am sure you will see what I mean.
PC Power Play Comment - Daniel
Australian Gaming Mag, PC Power Play had a summary of E3 in their last issue. Here is what they had to say on Tiberian Sun:
"PCPP can proudly report that Tiberian Sun will be all that C&C fans could have hoped for and more. Featuring all new graphics effects and a dynamic environment system, the enhancements to the RTS genre are too many to list. Will no doubt rock the multiplayer world too."
    Aaron Phone Chat - Daniel
Screwya asked Aaron Cohen a few questions on the phone:
Screwya: Well first off, the release date thing, rumors rumors rumors and no facts, can you give me some facts.
Aaron: The only fact is that we are still saying summer 1999.

Screwya: What about some of the articles floating around accusing WW of sucking down pre-order money and not releasing anything for it.
Aaron: I've said before that we are so close to the release that we aren't giving anything out.

Screwya: One more and I'll let you go, I know that your busy. Can you give me any little piece of info to push me over the edge?
    Aaron: what do you mean?

Screwya: You know anything you haven't disclosed yet, a scoop?
Aaron: Well, we have already given out most of what we want out right now, but, I can tell you that August is looking "real" good right now for release, and that there are still some surprises in store for everyone.

    And a V-Ted Interview... - Daniel
    TS-Underground have interviewed Virtual Ted:
Wizard: Will you be coming out with any TS stuff (i.e. movies, music, scren shots, pics) any time soon?
VirtualTed: Yes! in fact we will be coming out with a lot of stuff this month.

Wizard: Can you give me a guess to when TS will be coming out?

VirtualTed: We are in the testing part and I'm pretty sure that it will be out this summer.

    Aaron Interview - Daniel
TSTZ had an interview with Aaron Cohen. Here are some of the questions:
Toad: Will more than 1 war factory increase the speed the vehicles are built?
Aaron: You get a small bonus with the second and none for the third.

Toad: Will any units be able to swim? Like infantry
Aaron: Hover MLRS can fire from water.

Toad: Is there any chance of a navy for TS in any add ons or anything, i am hoping for add ons :)
Aaron: Nope. The water units divide the map in annoying ways.

    Aaron Questions - Daniel
Lowman of The Real TS Site asked Aaron Cohen, WW Public Relations, a few questions. Here are two of them:
LowMan: I have heard that there will be tunnels and have seen screenshots with large tunnels in them, what can you tell us about these?
Aaron: They are tunnels. Go in one end, you come out the other. A nifty way to get around a map.

LowMan: When you call dropships from the Philidelphia, will there be a button on the toolbar to the side, or will you have to build a special building to do it?
    Aaron: You can't call dropships.

So how do you order units to the drop ship landing pads? Do they just come when needed? Or randomly?
    Official Unit Guide - Daniel
WW Underground has received a file from Westwood containing all the official information about the units and structures in the game. Here's an excerpt of what they posted today:
Light Battle Infantry: The Light Battle Infantry is the mainstay of the GDI and Brotherhood troops. They are slow, but capable of movement over varied terrain types with little loss in speed and can pass through certain terrain types that are inaccessible to vehicles. They wear light battle armor made from a high grade Kevlar over thick weave army fatigues. This combination provides them with reasonable protection from attack, but more importantly, it keeps them safe from the elements -- but not Tiberium poisoning. The Light Battle Infantry carry M-16ii Pulse Rifles that fire a high speed, explosive round that can do light damage to most targets. Because of their size, they usually go unnoticed when passing near or on Tiberium vein holes and other unnatural terrain hazards.
Head over to WW Underground for some more!
    Aaron Question - Daniel
TakeaSeat from TS Times asked Aaron Cohen this question:
TakeaSeat: I was just wondering how a subterranean flame tank goes about refueling? If it can dump it's entire fuel supply and ignite it, then it has to get more fuel somewhere. Where?
Aaron: It gets its fuel from the same place that all those soldiers get their bullets and all those tanks get their shells. For the sake of gameplay, there is unlimited ammo for almost all the units.
Hmmm. Still doesn't make sense to me. If it dumps it's entire fuel supply, then is instantly refuelled, surely you could just go around continuously doing this? Maybe there's a time delay or something.
    Good News! - Daniel
I've finally fixed my modem so updating will return to normal and my mailing list/newsletter will be sent out later today!
