E3 Ending... - Daniel
Well, E3 will be ending within a few hours, so expect a lot of news from it to be published within the next few days, and of course, the new video!
New Screenshots - Daniel
Gamespy have some new screenshots (taken by camera) from E3. They're pretty bad quality, but take a look anyway.
Special Edition Copies of TS - Daniel
Westwood say that they are giving away 50,000 special copies of Tiberian Sun to people who pre-order it. They will have special boxes, featuring either GDI or Nod soldiers and possibly extra sounds and concept art!
Preorder Tiberian Sun now for just $49.99 and you may get a special edition copy if you're quick
Cool, new TS Video - Daniel
Good news for a change! At last, it seems the stories about a new video are true. This one sounds even cooler than the first. It's been shown at E3 already, so expect a net release soon. Here's what EA have to say about the video:
A spectacular combination of computer-generated graphics and full-motion video scenes, the five-minute presentation came across as more of a movie trailer than a game demo, and yes my friend, it rocked!

An intense background storyline, featuring James Earl Jones as General Solomon and "Alien" star Michael Biehn as Commander Michael McNeil, set the stage for the Second Tiberium War. It's 2010, and warfare has been cranked up a couple of dozen notches. The familiar Obelisk now fires at aerial units. Laser fences replace concrete walls. Tanks burrow into the ground and Infantry carry jetpacks. The future is bright indeed.

Can't wait! Read more here

Scavenger not in game! - Daniel
Well, it seems Shadow was wrong and someone made up the story of how the Scavenger was in the game. According to Rade, it's not. Sorry!
ARGHHHHHHH! Not Again! - Daniel
Well, it looks like Tiberian Sun has been delayed again. This news is not yet confirmed so I hope it is untrue! And I hope that the last official date of June 26th, is still correct, but I fear it may not be... The following notice was in Gamespot's E3 section:
Tiberian Sun Delayed...Again

While playing the latest build of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun, a Westwood official broke the bad news to us. The game has been pushed back, once again, until August. Tiberian Sun was previously scheduled to ship sometime in June.

The Westwood representative claimed that more quality assurance and testing is required before Tiberian Sun could be released. Additionally, Westwood feels that unit balancing isn't quite up to par with its standards, and is busily working at remedying the problems.

Westwood also affirmed that Erik Yeo's recent and sudden departure has nothing to do with the latest delay, and that Brett Sperry was, remains and will be the driving force behind the Command & Conquer series.

Well, the first time it was delayed, people thought this would make the game more anticipated and increase sales, the second time many people were upset, but now it is getting beyond a joke! The popularity of the game is decreasing due to all these delays. How many times can Westwood do this to us? They have been saying that they've been 'bugtesting' for months now! And they promised it would go gold in May!

I'm sure that now everyone is sick of Westwood's so called release dates. Is there something seriously wrong with the game? Are they hiding something from us? Why can't they just hurry up and release the bloody thing? Westwood should start being honest with us and give us a realistic date. The game is approaching one year late! How long does it take to balance a few units? I think I'd prefer a game with a few small bugs in it than no game at all!

I think that this must have something to do with Erik's departure. They lost their lead designer and they say this has nothing at all with any delays! Of course, they wouldn't admit that they can't make a good game without Erik's help. I'm sure they can, but it's just gonna take a little longer!

There will be a lot of people mad at Westwood after this news. I am one of them! But don't give up on the game. It will be released, it's just a question of when. And from all the screenshots, it looks as though it will be awesome! There have been many complications and set-backs in the production of this game but they should be honest with us, give out realistic dates, and tell us the real reasons behind it's delays!

Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer! If you have any comments about this news, please email me and you might get posted on this site.

Site News - Daniel
Well, due to the delay in release date, Alex has decided to leave TS Explosion. He's still gonna stay in the clan but he won't be doing news updates or special articles anymore. Anyway, it looks like I'm on my own now, unless anyone else wants to help me out with news updating (email me)

PC Accelorator Preview - Daniel
The magazine, PC Accelorator has a new TS preview and BG:TS have scanned a couple of the pages from it here and here. Here are a few questions and answers from the preview:
Q. What's with the Tiberian/Tiberium thing?
A. Someone on the team who once went through school and didn't sleep through English class determined that "Tiberium" was a noun. So, since the sun really isn't made out of Tiberium we needed an adjective in order to make it work, thus "Tiberian."

Q. Was there any concern that the gameplay may become too complicated for its own good?
A. This has been a nagging item for the development team from the start. One of our goals with C&C has been to keep the mechanics of the game simple and easy to learn, but with a lot of depth. We've spent a significant amount of time on this with Tiberian Sun in order to make sure that the game is still as fun as the original, while providing the improvements fans demand.

Q. Was there anything that got left out of the game that you can tell us about?
A. From the design side, we've had to trim back or alter a couple of units. The scavenger was originally planned to be a NOD unit that would piece together parts from destroyed vehicles in order to come up with new ones. If you had him, you could piece together a GDI Distruptor and a NOD stealth tank to make a sonic tank that could cload. We wound up cutting the unit because of balancing and interface issues.

Q. How many units do you expect to ship?
A. If we don't sell at least one million we'll all be looking for new jobs. [Ed. -- Can't just find a green money crate? Wait ... you mean that doesn't happen in real life? Damn ...]

Q. Does Tanya make a reappearance?
A. Tanya doesn't reappear in Tiberian Sun. GDI's policies don't jibe with Tanya's "kill everything that annoys her" philosophy, so they parted ways. I believe she's running guns in South America with Juan Valdez.

More Units Information - Daniel
Bounty from BG:TS had a chat with Shadow, who has some good contacts in Westwood and usually gives accurate info on TS. Here is what he found out:
The Scavenger and the Mammoth Tank do not exist in the Tiberian Sun World. Yet for some weird reason, they do. This is partly caused to the reappearance of the Vortex. But what is interesting about it is how it dealt with the Philadelphia Project, and why the GDI Orbital Command Center is named after that. In other words, the power of the Chronosphere turned out to be too powerful, since it sucked up a scientist and a Mammoth Tank, as well as some other objects. That was in the 40's. So now in the year 2015 (plus or minus a couple of years) they reappear, after being in suspended animation for over 70 years. Now here is the info about them and the theories...

The Scavenger is an "Engineer-type" of guy who is the victim of a chronosphere test accident. He reappears in the future with the knowledge of many things, as well as the skill to build. He is a very skilled scientist, and may have a roll in Nod...but I doubt he will be a playable unit. More of a character like McNeil or Solomon

The Mammoth tank is more or less the same. It could've been chronosphered and did not reappear. So instead it time-traveled.

Hunter-Seeker Drone Info - Daniel
This information is from Tiberian Zone:
Hunter Seeker Drone: The Hunter Seeker Drone is a clean up utility. When the droid is built, his icon is added to the unit menu bar. The word ready flashes in the icon. When the player clicks on the droid's icon the word ready changes to launching. Then the droid takes of in search of a target. It picks its target at random and can only attach to vehicles. Infantry and buildings are spared. It falls under the category of hovering vehicle, so it has the terrain modifiers associated with hover units. It does not reveal terrain as it moves. After launching, the droid's icon reads 'searching'. Once it finds its target, it attaches itself and explodes, normally doing enough damage to kill whatever it was attached to. The drone can be shot down before it latched onto its target but is extremely difficult due to its high speed. The explosion is enough to destroy or cripple many vehicles and kill several infantrymen.
Sounds cool, eh? I'm sure that unit could be very annoying, or useful if you're the one using it!
Poster in PC Action - Alex
I'm back! Sorry that I didn't update the past two weeks, but I just had too many things going on. Anyways, the German Mag PC Action has a giant poster in their next edition. The German site, Tiberiansun.de, got the picture of it exclusively, so click on the thumbnail to go to their site, and then scroll down until you find a link to the full size image.
Units Explanations - Daniel
Well, you can see the images below. I got the information on them from TS Center's Rainman. The ones on the left are indeed infantry units, although they aren't jump jet. The tank-thing is probably a Tick Tank (which burrows into the ground and becomes a turret). The structures are, in order from left to right: Construction Yard, Command Center, Missile Silo for Tiberium Missile. See our units and structures section for more info! The problem is that Westwood keep changing the units and structures for balancing etc. so some of these are older versions. Hopefully we'll know more after E3!
Mystery Units (More of Them) - Daniel
Here are some more mystery units structures. I think that the units on th left are jump-jet infantry but I don't know what the others are. If you think you know what they are, email me:
What is it? What is it? What is it? What is it?
What is it? What is it? What is it?
These two units are from the PC Gamer Online TS Preview, and have been identified as a NOD Recon bike and a NOD Chemical/Tiberium missile:
