Another new article... - Daniel
Gamecenter have written an article about the gamplay and the delays of Tiberian Sun. Read it here.
New Info - Daniel
RSN got this info from Dreadnaught Networks, from E3. I've just posted the new stuff which we didn't already know:
  • Nod has both the power plant and the advanced power plant like in TD. None of those silly add on pods for Nod.
  • Blue Tiberium isn't all that rare. From the maps I played on and saw other people play, there were vast fields of it. It wasn't like Gems in RA where there was just a little bit in some far off corner. I think I saw as much blue as I did green. That might change for the full game but I saw tons of it.
  • The right click to scroll thing is true, although I found myself not using it beyond checking to see if it was there.
  • According to Virtual Ted, when a search light finds an enemy unit and start following it, the gun towers guarding your base are twice as effective against the lit up unit. And when he pointed that out, it was on a day mission so I think that's true regardless of time.
I'll be updating my structures section soon...
Kane Interview - Daniel
In the newest issue of Computer Gaming World, they had an interview with Joe Kucan (aka. Kane):
Has being Kane been a fun experience for you?
Oh, you know, indoor work, no heavy lifting. Actually, it’s pretty cool. The fans are the best-enthusiastic and loyal. And us video game characters make up a pretty exclusive club-Duke Nukem and I go out drinking every once and a while, and I’ve been dating Lara Croft for a couple of months.

Got ask about the hair. Tiberium Poisoning?
No, NOD barbers. You tell them 'a little off the top' and this is what you get. But that’s NOD-always with the overkill.

When can you expect a Kane action figure?
Just as soon as our testers finish painting the goatees on all those leftover Jean-Luc Picard dolls.

If you wanna see the others, buy the magazine!
NEW VIDEO! - Daniel
MephistoI just received the German mag, Gamestar. On the CD it has a 60Mb MPEG Video of Tiberian Sun! It's nearly seven minutes long and contains loads of new stuff! It isn't available on the net yet, but someone is sure to upload it soon enough. For now, there are some screenshots available at TiberiumSun.com, who got this info. They are mostly of in-game menus and interfaces, with some FMV. Here is one of them:
Here is just one of the images
Check out the other five here.
Oh and one more here.
Info from Video - Daniel
Here is some information from the new video mentioned above:
  • The WW guy also tells that they're aiming for an "summer-release"
  • Some missions will be introduced by scripted sequences (Seems to me like those from SC with characters telling something and that stuff)
  • The "asphalt" you can build in your base not only prevents the Devils-Tongue from popping up in your base but also makes it possible to build on patches of land hit by an meteor shower. If you haven't built such asphalt you would not be able to build there anymore, because from now on there would be a crater.
  • Waypoints: To set WP's you'll have to click on the icon in the sidebar first and then you can start to set as many as WP's as you wish. After that you can, if you want to, make the WP's a loop by clicking on the first WP again. No unit will start using the WPs until you command one/some units to go to the starting (the first) WP. They'll remain on the map until they're deleted, of course.
Thanks to Oliver from TiberiumSun.com who got this info from MephistoI.

News Updaters Wanted - Daniel
I need someone to help with news updating who could update the site a two or three times per week. You would need some basic knowledge of html and Tiberian Sun expereince will be helpful. It would be nice if you had ICQ so that you can chat to me. If you are interested, please contact me by e-mail.
Platinum Edition - Daniel
EB World have two version of TS available now. They are both to be released on August 25th and one of them is a Platinum edition. For an extra $10, you get an extra soundtrack, limited edition manual and a GDI or Nod figurine (i think). Hmmm, sounds quite cool. Possibly not worth it though. You'd be better off to pre-order it now.
TS Release - Daniel
Games Domain said this in their newsletter:
"Westwood Studios have decided to release Tiberian Sun simultaneously accross the globe, Friday 27 August. The title will be backed heavily by advertising on TV and radio. Tiberian Sun was originally pencilled in for a 1998 release."
That sounds cool, can't wait to see the ads! And I'm glad about the global release!
Kinda Good News - Daniel
Well, it seems TS is beginning to look better. This indicates that there will be no more delays from now on, I hope! Game Center know all about it, as they just played it:
The good news for Command & Conquer fans is that all the pieces in Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun are nearly in place. The bad news is that despite this, the release of Tiberian Sun is still some time away.

Westwood Studios dropped by the Gamecenter offices this week and gave us a chance to play around with the long-awaited Command & Conquer sequel. (Check out our new Game Grabs)

From all appearances, the game looks complete. All the units and missions were in place, the full-motion videos were incorporated into the gameplay, and there was no placeholder artwork to be seen anywhere. But looks can be deceiving. Even though the game looked finished, it was obvious that it needs to undergo serious bug testing.

Phone Call Info - Daniel
Here is some more info from Presto of RSN who had a chat with Aaron Cohen (WW PR Guy) on the phone:
  • The stealth generator is very buggy at the current moment.
  • You can move the construction yard and redeploy it.
  • There is rally points like if you start building a building or unit, you can tell it where you want it before its done building.
  • The Mrls won't sink when they are over water when an ion storm hits; they float on water.
  • You have a 30 sec notice before an ion storm hits.
  • The firestorm defense is like a really big wall type force field that can be turned on and off. It has no roof; planes can't fly over it, but they can crash into it. The satelite weapons that Nod doesnt have, or missiles could attack inside the base. People like to turn it on as the enemy gets really close and watch them all get burnt up.
New TS Info - Daniel
Wow, all this info has been released on the Official Tiberian Sun site. Thanks to TS Nation for noticing this:
1. Lt. Col. Tom Braider of the U.S Central Command on the Philadelphia
2. General Vega; Leader of the South American Nod Fractions
3. General Hassan; Son of Sadam Hussien and is the Leader of the European Nod Fractions
4. Oxanna Kristos; High ranking Nod media official
5. The appearance of Convoy Trucks in the game
6. Nod is also helping Forgotten by supplying weaponry and releasing classified information about how GDI is responsible for the carnage
7. Some Forgotten carry vital information about Nod and its past
8. Chief Structual Engineer Edward Slone (GDI)
9. Disrupter Tank...could be stolen technology from Nod?
10. GDI is still investigating Kane's death
11. Global Research Center = Tech Center's name (GDI)
12. Tratos is the leader of the Forgotten
13. Lewis Fitzpatrick; Senior Public Relations Director of GDI
14. New Countries like New Guatemala in game
15. Meeting actual people and talking to them?
16. Tiberium Trees, Blue/Green Tiberium, vein holes

Now that all sounds cool! But it means I'll have to update all of that on this site! Oh Well... More work :( Please Help me!
Opinions on TS Terrain - Daniel
BG:TS posted both of these articles, although the first was originally from CNCMods.com. Who do you agree with?
Opinion 1
"Just a word about TS, a friend of mine won tickets to E3 and scoped out Ts for me. Lets just say he was dissapointed to say the least. He said the graphics were not all impressive and the terrian system was annoying. You see TS uses slopes and you can't build on a hill so in some cases you are very limited on how you can place buildings. Lets just hope it turns out better than it is now."
Opinion 2
"I think that having deformable terrain with limited building space was probably an intentional design. You can't just have and all-out war inside your base without doing excessive collateral damage to the environment. That's what WW has been saying all along - more strategy all the way around (including building placement). WW seems to be encouraging smaller, more-carefully-defended, more-difficult-to-penetrate base building/defendingtechniques. You can't just "build 24 power plants in a huge field", you'll have to build 7 plants where you can find room, upgrade each one, then defend them carefully over the course of battle. It forces you to pay more attention to tactical matters that's very different from the "tank rush" mentality. It's more like chess than a click-fest. My gut tells me that the guy "who won tickets to E3" was unimpressed because he favors the "brute force / tank rush" tactics which won't work now. (I could be wrong. I'm not a prophet.) The point is: I say "AMEN!" to Westwood's approach! More strategy, Less slap-boxing! "
That's more like it! I hope you, like me, agree with the second statement!

Site Update - Daniel
Well, as promised, I've now finished updating my units section with more information and images covering infantry, ground and air units. There is information on 48 units altogether, with a total of more than 70 screenshots!
Click here right now for the most comprehensive and complete Tiberian Sun units guide available!
I should finish updating the structures within the next few days, and here's all that news I promised you yesterday:
More Release Date News - Daniel
Pyrotechnic had an interview with Alan Dykes of PC Gaming, about what he saw at E3. Here are the interesting facts:
  • It looked good and playable when I saw it in LA two weeks ago, so they're obviously holding back for play tweaking.
  • We will have the reviewable version [of TS] in the first week of August.
  • Jacob is McNeill's brother and he also works for Nod.
That's kinda strange because some people who played it at E3 said it still had quite a lot of bugs in it. It's a shame about the mid-August release (if that's what it'll be), but I guess we just have to live with it.
Fire? - Daniel
Here is an interesting image for you. The material in the screenshot doesn't look much like veins so it could be blue tiberium which has caught on fire. Imagine the destruction that could cause...
Fire or Veins?
New Preview - Daniel
Cyclone from TS Domination has written a really good, and not too long, TS preview. An excellent read for a new comer to the TS world, or a TS fan. Click here to read it!
Blue Tiberium - Daniel
Here is an image (sorry, very blurred) of some dangerous blue Tiberium in a game. Thanks to Tiberian Zone who found this in one of RSN's E3 screenshots.

Later Release in UK? - Daniel
BG:TS received this email:
Just thought you may want my opinion ...

When Westwood says "simultaneous release date" read it as "balls". I had this when I was running Dune-2000.com. I live in the UK and I was told Dune2k would be released on the same day world wide, but the UK release was about 1 month behind the US. You may want to advise your non-US readers to order from the US to get the game before other people in their country!

Well, I hope that doesn't happen with Tiberian Sun as I live in the UK! It's probably safest to pre-order it if you don't live in the US or Canada, as you then get it before it's in the shops (I don't know how long before though).
3D Terrain - Daniel
In a recent German TV program called Giga, which was translated by BG:TS, they talked about Tiberian Sun at E3. They sais it just looked like an improved Red Alert with 13 height levels in each level.
E3 Pics - Daniel
TS Den have a great selection of E3 pics, so go and take a look!
Map Editor in TS - Daniel
It looks like WW might descide to include an easy-to-use map editor with the game. BG:TS received this e-mail from 'Joe':
This is what the preview over at StrategyXtreme said. "Another thing that was very interesting was the map editor. Ted showed me how much easier it is now to create a map. He showed me how easy it was to add terrain, tiberium and the water on the maps. Rather than the piece by piece work that used to be in the original C&C. So, idefinitely won't bespending so many hours on one map. Which is a really good thing becauseI don't have that much time to spare on editing. " Maybe there will be a map editor after all. I doubt that they are talking about the RMG.
New Ideas in TS - Daniel
Hamma's TS Site found this post at TS Times.net, which gives some reasons for the July/August release date:
I have connections with WW-Underground and they have call connections through Westwood and Tiberian Sun will be released At the end of July or early august. The reason that Tiberian Sun is being delayed is because that they have kept thinking of new ideas right before they released it. For example, before the last time they released it, they thought of a kewl item called the unit garage which lets you choose the units you start out with before the game starts. Don't beat up on Westwood, they are only trying to make the game better for you and me which we will all be thankful for in the end.
TS at GENCON - Daniel
This image was found on Command and Conquer Domain:
So Westwood are holding a Tiberian Sun tournament at GENCON, which means the game will have to be finsihed by August! I don't know why Westwood are going to GENCON. According to Drake32, they play board game such as Magic: The Gathering and Risk at the event. Well, I suppose TS will liven things up a bit! The event takes place in Wisconsin from 5th August to 8th August.

Firing Squad Preview - Daniel
Thresh's Firing Squad have expanded their TS preview with the following info about the release date:
Many AI bugs were present in the build I played. There were bugs when I tried to move units, there were bugs when I tried to attack air units, and graphics that should have been there weren't. Westwood has always been one of the kings of the PC real time strategy development community. However in recent times, their titles regarding the legendary original Command and Conquer have been slowing. Maybe it had to do with Dune 2000. It could have been that other programmers were needed for other projects, but as it stands, it doesn't look like C&C2 will be making it to the stores at their predicted date of late June. The projected release has been pushed back from late June to late summer. In all honesty, most of the public may even have to wait longer for this gem. Even after its completion, it will take another 3-4 weeks before it goes gold. You can pray that I'm wrong, but only time will tell. I can tell you that C&C and Red Alert fans will not be disappointed once this game hits the shelves.

Aaron Cohen Information - Daniel
Presto from RSN called Aaron Cohen a few days ago. Here is some of the info he got:
  • The E3 sizzle video will be released next month after a few "touch ups".
  • Dropships more than likely won't be in the game.
  • If you don't have a unit on an upper level and the other guy does, you can't see the other guy's unit unless you get a unit on or above that level. So, if all of your units are on the first level and he has one on the second level, you can't see his unit.
New Logos - Daniel
It looks like the GDI and Nod now have new logos, even cooler than before. Click on the images for a larger version:
GDI NOD
More New Commandos Info - Daniel
Gameslice have had a look at the C&C: Commandos Demo and written a preview of this 3D first-person action from Westwood:
Tucked away a story above the show floor in a blue-paneled meeting suite discretely labeled "Westwood Studios" thanks to a silver-embossed name plate on the door, Westwood co-founder Louis Castle gave us the first glimpse of the game. Truth be told, Commando has been the subject of countless rumors on the Internet since Westwood first hinted at its existence over a year ago in PC Gamer. Since then, Westwood has been decidedly mum on details, which has led to fans speculating just about everything and everything. (One of my favorite rumors was that Westwood had decided to rename the game C&C: Tanya after the Tanya character from C&C, in order to capitalize on the Lara Croft factor).

Sidebar Image - Daniel
Presto from RSN scanned this image from the latest issue of PC Gamer:
Sidebar Image
Structures: Communications Center, Power Plant Upgrades, Tiberium Waste Facility (originally, this was thought to be a chemical missile launcher, but GDI don't have them!), Tiberium Silo, GDI Weapons Factory
Units:Medic, Jump-Jet Infantry, Hover MRLS, Power Asault Suit "Wolverine", Orca Troop Transport
New Article - Daniel
BG:TS have written an article about how fans have reacted to the delays in Tiberian Sun. Here is a short excerpt:
"The state of affairs in the Tiberian Sun community is currently not at a high point. There are rumours spreading about release date delays, webmasters throwing in the towel and anti-Westwood sentiment seems to be stirring, as strange a concept as it seems to me." You can read the rest here.
Updating Begins... - Daniel
As promised earlier this week, I've started to update my units and structures sections. I have just completed the infantry section with all 15 infantry units in Tiberian Sun, and information and images on almost all of them. Oh, and there's also a cool new layout! The rest will be updated soon...
Check it out here!

Will it ever be released? - Daniel
Well, this person obviously think not. Here are the top ten things which are likely to happen before the game is out:
  1. Hell Freezes Over
  2. Pigs Fly
  3. Americans start using public transpotation
  4. I am capable of beating a first person shooter without having to cheat.
  5. I know how to use the Starcraft map editor.
  6. Bill Clinton stops lying.
  7. Russia's economy gets better.
  8. I stop rambling incoherently about how great starwars was.
  9. Two blue moons occur in the same year.
  10. The apocalypse comes.
Actually there were two blue moons this year so maybe we're in luck!
Thanks to TiberiumSun.com for that entertaining little list!

Swimming Infantry? Fish in TS? Weird. - Daniel
Ok, I just downloaded the second video clip of Tiberian Sun at E3 from TS Nation and it showed some pretty amazing things.

In the first scene, you can see some mechs, and a destroyed railway, beside a NOD base, which is defended by an obelisk.

You then see a short clip of some Hover MRSLs attacking a civilian building. The explosions and smoke effects look superb!

But the next bit is by far the most interesting. It is a water scene with some cliffs to the North, and patches of land dotted around. Anyway, the first thing you see is what looks like a fish jump over a small island, and splash back into the water, creating some nice ripples. Could this be one of the indigenous Tiberium-mutated creatures Westwood have mentioned? You will also notice some other movements under the water (which is slightly transparent) but I have no clue what they are - can't wait to find out though!

There are also some infantry or Mechs which are wading (yes, that's right, wading) through the water. They also create ripples in the liquid. They then fire some kind of energy weapons towards the small fish-thing, and kill it. Interesting and, as I said already, very weird, but cool!

If you can offer any insight about any of this, or you wish to make a command, please e-mail me!

You can download the video for yourself and take a look. It only lasts a few seconds, and is pretty bad quality, and at nearly 10Mb does take a while to download. But it's worth it to see the game we've all been waiting for! It's probably best viewed at double size so you can see all the detail (and in slow-motion).

Download Clip Now! [9Mb .MOV]

New Server (again) - Daniel
Well, I don't know what happened to NonPareilNation.com where my site just moved. It seems to have disappeared! I tried contacting the site owner, but to no avail. Anyway, I have now moved to Fortune City so the site should be back to normal again. If I do ever change servers again, it shouldn't affect you as long as you use this address:
http://come.to/tsexplosion
Thanks for being so patient and staying with Tiberian Explosion!
TS Video Clips - Daniel
If you want to see TS in action then head over to TS Nation. They have two video clips from E3:
Units Questions - Daniel
Presto from RSN asked Aaron the following questions about a few of the TS units:
Presto: is the Mammoth Mark 2 buildable? Aaron: Yes, but you can only have one at a time. If you loose that one, you can build another but they are so expensive you probably only want to build one the entire mission.

Presto: What is the Montauk and Kodiak? Aaron: The Montauk is the train NOD uses to keep tabs on the battle, the Kodiak is more so a big flying vehicle that GDI uses to keep tabs on the battle field.

The interview also revealed that there would be about 45 missions in total.
Late Summer Release - Daniel
Here is what Aaron Cohen, a Westwood Public Relations guy, has to say about the release date:
"Late summer, Aug, Sept, no later, maybe a little earlier."
Let's hope it's a little earlier!
TS 4 Dreamcast - Daniel
SegaDreamCast.net has a preview of Tiberian Sun in which it mentions a release on the Sega Dreamcast. Read it here.
Finally, some confirmation from Westwood - Daniel
Westwood have finally updated their front page with official information on the Tiberian Sun release date. Unfortunately, this is not as accurate as we'd hoped, but at least it's definate (probably!):
"The E3 news reports are out, and everyone agrees that Tiberian Sun is going to be HOT this summer!"
New Screenshot! - Daniel
Here is a photo of Tiberian Sun from E3, thanks to Shadow from TS Nation for this:

E3 at Tiberian Sun - Daniel
Kesier from TS Center found this article about the game Westwood were showing at E3 (written by Gunfire of BG:TS). TS look like it's getting on well, but still not quite complete:
I strongly recommend you click here now and read this excellent article!
